Read across academy
This March, Academy Avenue is participating in Read Across America!
What is Read Across America? The NEA (National Education Association) launched Read Across America in 1997 to encourage children in reading more books and getting them more excited about reading. On March 2, 1998, the first Read Across America Day was celebrated, and since then, this holiday has been celebrated annually. The day mainly focuses on motivating students to read, as it improves their performance in school. The NEA provides various resource materials for people who want to celebrate the holiday in their own way. You can visit their website at
https://www.nea.org/professional-excellence/student-engagement/read-across-america.
Read Across America is a time to celebrate the joys of reading. At Academy, we are going to celebrate the Read Across America holiday by challenging students to read all month long!
One participant per grade in our Read Across Academy challenge will be selected at random to win a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card!! That's $150 in gift cards between 6 lucky readers!!
